From 16 to 30 June, Aneta and Bert Krikke visited on behalf of the Arnhem Tibet Foundation the project area. Aim was to monitor the progress of the development of the school, to strengthen the contact between the school teachers and children and our foundation en to discuss progress with our project partner, the Snowland Service Group.
During our visit, the contracts for the construction of phase 3 have been signed. Our foundation has committed itself to pay the largest amount of the costs for this phase.
While visiting the school, we received a warm welcome and were introduced to all children and teachers. At this moment, the school already hosts more than 60 children. The children told us that they are very happy that they can get education. They are educated in mathematics, Chinese and Tibetan and much more! Every day there is time to exercise sports. The children get nutritious food, prepared by the cooks that are employed by the school.
There quality of the first two phases has been controlled. After two strong winters, the school shows no significant problems regarding maintenance. There are some problems with the boundary walls, but they will be solved before the end of this year.
The discussions with the Snowland Service Group were positive and constructive. We concluded that we are cooperating with a very professional and motivated organization which has the same goals as we have: education for all Tibetan children.
