Pete Hammond en Tess Burrows start the Sony Polar Challenge Race.
Pete Hammond en Tess Burrows, both members of the Climb for Tibet team will start with the yearly Sony Polar Challenge Race to rais money for two schools in Eastern Tibet.
Pete and Tess leave for the Arctic on Tuesday, 4th April en route for their base at Resolute, Northern Canada. On arrival they will immediately commence various training missions before leaving for the race start-line at Polaris. It is expected that the 320 mile race will take between 10 to 15 days depending on the weather and sea ice condions plus any delays for Polar Bear encounters! C.F.T. are raising money for two schools in Eastern Tibet, the Inuit school at Resolute plus funding help for orphaned Polar Bears. They will also be taking over 1000 Peace Messages which will be spoken out with the local Inuit children before being carried to the Magnetic North Pole to speak out. They will then be burnt in to the sea ice, so they can be carried by the oceans to all parts of the globe.
